An Exciting Stop for Those Who Love to Sew!
Hayes Sewing is a locally owned and operated fabric and sewing machine store. We have been in business for more than 40 years and proudly serve Wilmington, Newark, Dover, Philadelphia, Delaware County, Chester County and Southern New Jersey.
Would you like to learn how to sew? Sign up for our mailing list to get the whole schedule of classes mailed right to you, or you can look on our website for a complete list as well. We have classes for clothing construction, quilting, crafts, simple home dec, and embroidering and software. Classes are held in the mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends to fit any person’s schedule.
If you don’t have a lot of time to spare, sign up for our Quick Lectures classes which are just 1 1/2 hours long. You’re also welcome to come to our FREE sewing demonstrations every Friday morning from 10:30-11:30. You do not have to register and there is no charge for this class; you just show up! Bring a notebook and pen and get ready to have lots of fun and learn new projects and techniques.
If you have a machine that needs repair, bring it in! We service all makes and models of machine from 1851 –present. We always offer a FREE estimate.
If you would like to get a new machine, we have a lot of models out on display for you to try out. The new Singer Model 7462 is very popular. It has 30 stitches built-in. All you have to do is select what stitch you want to work with, and the machine automatically sets it up for you! It will even automatically make you buttonholes and thread your needle. This is a great machine if you want something easy to work with. It’s also a wonderful starting machine for your children that want to learn how to sew. Because the machine automatically sets stitches for you, it cuts out frustration and lets you enjoy working on your project.
If you would like to try some machine embroidery, the Singer Futura CE-100 & CE-200 are fantastic deals! You can get a machine that will do both sewing and embroidery starting at $699.00! The Singer CE-200 also comes with a software program that will let you do basic digitizing if you have clipart or simple drawings that you would like to embroidery onto a project. If you’ve never done embroidery before, come in and ask to see how it’s done. It’s SO easy!! The machine does all the work for you.

All of our new machines come with FREE instruction classes so that you can learn all about using your new machine.
We also carry fabrics, and notions. We have lots of buttons, zippers, needles, threads, trims, interfacing, patterns, and books. If you don’t sew, did you know that there are a lot of products to get around that? We have iron-on tapes for mending and hems, special safety pins to hold buttons on coats and more. Come in and take a look at all of the new products available.
