Are You Motivated to Organize & Simplify Your Life?

Here we are between the end of the holiday season and the beginning of Spring. You might be feeling “after holiday” depression or cabin fever. The running around and preparation you did (before the company came) is finished. Even though you may be stuck in the house more, you just aren’t as busy as before. You may be thinking, “Why should I bother to clean up at this point?.” Try to remember that the company will be back eventually. Also, the winter arrived late. Are you still unprepared for the possibility of severe winter weather including power outages?

Now you need motivation — a push — to get involved in organizing and de-cluttering your home. What you need is a real reason, not only to get started, but to feel pleased with your accomplishment.

Sit right down and set a date for a party. You don’t need a special occasion to have friends and family visit and have fun. It can be an “Un-Birthday” party, or “Because It’s February” party, or anything you can make up. Maybe a theme party. How about a brunch or a dinner for a smaller group? Have you ever spent a Sunday afternoon with your friends playing games and eating snacks? Or a buffet? The point is to be playful and have something to look forward to enjoying.

Often the holidays accentuate the changes we need to make in our homes. Maybe you felt crowded. Perhaps rooms can be rearranged for better use of space or traffic flow.

When you were entertaining, did you have to scurry around searching for things or were they easy to find? You my have realized that you don’t need all the serving or cooking equipment you have stored. Sometimes having too much will just slow you down.

Reducing the stress in your life can be achieved by making your surroundings as functional as possible. You’ll save time and energy and limit your frustration when you have organized and decreased the clutter. Don’t be embarrassed about asking for help. An objective point of view will always make it easier.

Set a date and start sending the invitations!!
