Finding the World of Beauty

I want to share with you a great journey that I have recently been on in search of “The World of Beauty.” It started on my 46th birthday when I eagerly looked into my full-length mirror to admire my youthful image and, instead, had the shock of my life.
One glance at my jiggly thighs and my saggy……body told me, if I may borrow from Dorothy and The Wizard of Oz, “I’m not in Kansas anymore!” By “Kansas” I mean that World of Beauty that I was in oh-so-long-ago, when nothing about me jiggled and perky was the theme of the day. Ah, if I only spent time appreciating my perkiness and my 26-inch waist, instead of complaining about how fat I was back then.
After several frustrating years of constantly wishing I looked as good as I did 20 years ago, sometimes even just ten years ago, and even more recently just one year ago, I had a lightbulb moment about The World of Beauty that Oprah would certainly be proud of.
I have come to understand that “Kansas” is just a perception. The World of Beauty or beauty itself is not a destination to arrive at but rather a state of being and of doing. It is not about how my physical body looks, but rather how the whole me “feels”. BEAUTY can be summed up in the following anagram:
Being
Evoking
Attaining
Understanding
Trusting You!
Being beauty—experiencing the best of who I am and connecting with the
beauty of life that is in all human beings. “The core of me is beauty,
regardless of the package it comes in."
Evoking beauty—calling forth the expression of who I really am. “The
best of life is in the things that I create.”
Attaining beauty—achieving a goal of health and well being “I am
strong!”
Understanding beauty—having full knowledge of the total mind/body/spirit
connection. “I know my beauty on all levels.”
Trusting beauty—being confident in my total worth as a person and a spirit.
“My unique beauty is my gift to the world.”
You are beauty—in any form on all levels of life. “I am beauty.
The Universe does not judge me.”
This new perception of The World of Beauty is quite simple and, at the same time, profound and life changing. Just like the Good Witch of the North told Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz that she always had the power to go home in her ruby slippers, my slippers are simply my perception of beauty. I have always lived in The World of Beauty.

So now that I have shared with you this wisdom, you, too, know how to get to The World of Beauty and stay there and you can join me. So, stand in front of your mirror, look past the sagging body and the jiggly thighs, and rest your eyes on those ruby slippers. Now click away!
