Now that summer is upon us, we have had so many women come in and ask for help updating their wardrobes. The #1 question we get asked is “What is in?” and we always answer, “What you like” is what is in. Rose and I have always shopped conservatively for our store apparel with regards to style and price. When I was growing up, my mother would always say to me and my sisters “Do you think money grows on trees”? I found myself saying the same thing to my children when they were young. When Rose and I go shopping for merchandise for our store we always ask ourselves “Would we pay that price for it” and “Is the quality good enough that we would buy it for ourselves”? If the answer is yes to both, then we consider it for our store. Our staff always stresses the fact that buying trendy things is not always a good thing. Fads come and go, but classics always stay.
We like to focus more attention on shoes, purses and accessories for adding that pop of color and newness to an outfit. We all have had that moment when we see something that we just fall in love with and can’t live without. If you go home and end up dreaming about it, then by all means go back and buy it and enjoy it.
Colors for the upcoming season are neutral in tone, just like the woods. Browns, oranges, greens, taupes and even red is going to be popular. I have found it hard to break my long time habit of matching things exactly with regards to color and fabric. Try mixing different colors and textures with some of your favorite pants and jackets. Just one new clothing piece added to an existing outfit can put that extra kick in your step.
