PUBLISHERS' NOTE

I would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to our many contributors for all the time and energy they put into providing articles for the paper each issue. Even though I fuss and push you to get me your editorials, I never forget how hard it is for you to provide these wonderful articles with all the other things you have on your plate.

August is National SMA Awareness month. SMA stands for Spinal Muscular Atrophy. This disease is the number one genetic killer of children under the age of two. One in every 40 people is a carrier of this disease. My beautiful six-year-old granddaughter, Kourtney Rose Marie, has this horrible disease. She has surpassed her expected life span by four years, and has to be one of the strongest people I know. So this Publisher's Note is for Kourtney and all the beautiful children who either suffer from this disease or have died from it.

In this issue we have a personal editorial from one of our reader's about her son Stephen who was an SMA baby. I hope that you will take time to read this heart breaking story, and give to the Family's of SMA. Please don't forget these special children that need your help. They deserve to walk, laugh, and speak just like each of us. If you would like to find out more about this disease go to: www.fsma.org or call 800-886-1762.

The Women's Journal can be found in most hospitals and doctor's offices throughout each county we have papers in. Some of the places we have racks or larger quantities of papers are local drug stores such as Eckerd, Rite Aide, Food Lion, Janssen's, libraries, hospitals, fitness facilities, Hayes Sewing Center, Borders Book Stores, Jewish Community Center, YMCA, Pure Bread Restaurants, Brew HaHa, just to name a few. If you are looking for a copy, give us a call and we will tell you a location close by where you can find the paper. If you would like the Women's Journal distributed to your business please let us know.

Sincerely,
Pamela Rizzo and Heather Shafer, Publishers
