Body Contouring Is Not Just for the Young Anymore
Most people usually think that body contouring is for younger men and women, but not anymore. Although the younger set is the most likely to take advantage of these popular procedures, more mature women and men are requesting improvement for bulges and loose skin resistant to exercise and diet. This isn’t surprising since these men and women are fit, active, and busy socially and with careers. Just last week, 75% of my cosmetic consultations were with the “over fifty” set. Here are some areas of the body that are of interest and concern.
Abdomen
If you already have good abs, but they are hiding behind persistent excess fat and skin then you may want to consider liposuction or an abdominoplasty (“tummy tuck”). Both men and women have a tendency to develop loose skin and fat bulges around the middle. For some, liposuction is used to gently remove the unwanted fullness, while for others a tummy tuck is the option of choice. This is a more extensive procedure but has excellent results, however both procedures achieve a pleasing body contour. With the areas of fullness eliminated and getting one’s waist line and curves back, you will be amazed how well you feel and look.

Hips and Thighs
Liposuction smoothes the hips by removing the fat pockets and narrowing hip width, and it is also the answer for the middle back rolls of fat that some of us develop with age. Liposuction can be done separately or at the time of the tummy tuck.
Slim thighs are youthful and explain the popularity of the thighplasty. Again, liposuction is used to remove fat to eliminate the upper inner thigh bulges. As a result your thighs will appear less heavy, narrower and with smoother skin.
Arms
Aging arms is a nightmare for most women. Saying goodbye to sleeveless dresses and shirts eliminates a large part of one’s summer wardrobe. For men, golf shirts, dress shirts and t-shirts tend to feel tight and uncomfortable. Fluctuations in weight, growing older and even heredity can cause your upper arms to have a drooping, sagging appearance. Although rigorous weight lifting and exercise help, most people just don’t have the time or inclination for such workouts.
Recontouring with liposuction and/or an arm lift, or brachioplasty, reshapes the under portion of the upper arm, from the underarm region to the elbow. These procedures are performed to reduce excess sagging skin that droops downward, tighten and smooth the underlying supportive tissue that defines the shape of the upper arm, and reduce localized pockets of fat in the upper arm region.
The results of arm recontouring will be long-lasting, provided that you maintain a stable weight and general fitness. As your body ages, it is natural to lose some firmness, but most of your improvement should be relatively permanent.
Buttocks
Are you looking for the option of having a rounder, more desirable buttocks? Or, do you have a larger buttocks and want to sculpt or contour it into a more attractive shape. Now there are a variety of effective procedures that can lift, and either reduce or add fat as needed for a more compact and rounder profile and to eliminate sagging skin and flattening.
Body contouring provides more than one method for getting rid of fat and the tightening of skin. It is an option for mature men and woman as well as for the younger set. Many of these procedures can be performed in-office or at a surgicenter on an outpatient basis. It’s time to take time for yourself and get in shape.

Testimonial:
“Before I decided to have this procedure, which I had thought about for many years, I did tons of research. Dr. Asher Carey came the most highly recommended. During my first consultation he told me what to expect, the seriousness of what I was doing, and made the recommendation of the size that I should be for my slender frame. Would I do it again? Yes, I would. Would I go to Dr. Carey again? Absolutely. My breasts look natural, and I never had one ounce of trouble, not then, and not now, nine years later.” ~P.R., Lewes, DE
