A 2-day festival featuring the work of renowned local artists and global artisans. Highlights this year will be work from Central America, Israel and South Africa. Meet the artists, learn about their crafts and enjoy strolling through the beautiful gardens at the DE Center for Horticulture.



An Evening Exploring Wilmington’s Public Gardens

A progressive picnic supper hosted by Wilmington’s public gardens. The event begins at the DCH Gardens in Trolley Square with wine and cheese. Move on to Gibralter Gardens for light sandwiches. The City Gardens Contest, now in its 26th year, recognizes Wilmington gardeners for their greening and beautification efforts. Enter your garden in one or two of 17 different categories. Judging will take place on July 19. To print out a copy of the entry form, visit dehort.org.

Enjoy a stroll through some of the best private gardens in Wilmington. Previously winning gardens in the City Gardens Contest will be open to the public in this self-guided tour. Volunteer are invited to apply as garden judges for the 26th Annual City Gardens Contest. Wilmington city residents will enter their gardens in 17 different categories. A complimentary breakfast and lunch will be served to volunteers during judging on Saturday, July 19.
Tree Care Club – call for volunteers

Join other volunteers for a fun summer evening dedicated to caring for Wilmington’s street trees. Tools will be supplied, but bring gloves and loppers if you have them. Volunteers will be contacted with specific location to assemble. Please pre-register with Nick Lodsun at ext. 113 or email him at nlodsun@dehort.org.

The Art Gallery at DCH exhibits work that relates to plants or includes horticultural and environmental themes. Eric Zippe’s show will host extended hours until 8:00 p.m. on July 18 and August 15. For more information, visit dehort.org.
The Delaware Center for Horticulture (DCH) cultivates greener communities by inspiring appreciation and improvement of the environment through horticulture, education and conservation. Founded in 1977, the Center’s site in Wilmington, Delaware includes a 1.5 acre educational demonstration garden, a 3,000 volume lending library, an art gallery, a lecture hall and a greenhouse. DCH supports 15 active community gardens throughout the city of Wilmington; beautifies Delaware’s roadsides with native vegetation; maintains the landscaping of many urban gateways, corridors, and streetscapes; leads regional conservation projects to enhance Delaware’s urban forest; and provides educational programs for children, teens, and adults.
